To experience what is like to be happy and “young” again. For a baby boomer, being in dating scene in this new time and age can be quite confusing and sometimes intimidating. Let this not stop you, here are some few rules for senior dating to help you find your last shot for a blissful and rewarding relationship.
One of the many essential rules for senior dating is telling your close family and friends about it. If you have children, it’s wise to tell them of your plans. This doesn’t mean that you have to ask for their approval or blessing but inform them out of respect and consideration.
You have to remember, your close family and friends have deep concerns and worries for you, so for thoughtfulness’ sake let them know your plans of dating again. Who knows they might even help you and support you hook up with someone you truly deserve. More rules for senior dating are to look on the right places and be confident about yourself.
Unless you look like Michael Douglas or Pierce Brosnan, then it’s okay to go to the hottest club in town, but if you look like the typical grandpa then go to the places that you are comfortable in. A place where you feel safer and more secure with people having the same state of mind that you have is a perfect place to meet someone with relatively less stress and effort.
Further rules for senior dating are to stop beating around the bush and be straightforward about your intentions. Taking your time and hiding your intentions is one luxury you don’t have. I don’t mean that you grab the next senior person you know and propose to have a relationship but to approach and start being friends.
Establish an open communication. If you have already started going out and if there is mutual understanding of going steady, be straight forward on your expectations and plans about your relationship. For instance, if you don’t have any plans of getting married again, it’s just fair to tell your new found love about it.
The last thing you need is your new lover having a stroke because of a broken heart. Rules for senior dating are just guidelines to make it easier for you to find a relationship but the decision of capturing true love totally depends on you. Unless you’re Hugh Heffner, then you don’t need rules for senior dating.
