 So you’ve found the perfect online dating site. Now what? More and more people everyday are using the internet to meet that special someone. For a lot of individuals, it has proven to be rewarding and fun. Unfortunately for some, who has been victims of pathological liars and fraud, online dating has become a harrowing experience.
Whether you’re a newbie or a veteran on the numerous online dating sites, here are some essential tips that you can’t afford to forget: Never give out all your personal information. Age range, gender and location are often used as criteria for matchmaking. Under no circumstance should you give your social security number or even the phone number and address if you have just met that other person online.

There may be a lot of eligible men or women out there, but there are even more online predators waiting for their next target, which could be you. Hold back a little. Talk about yourself, but give the other person a chance to open up, too. Adapt an air of mystery; reveal a little something each time.
This will not only add a thrill to your conversations but will also make you more intriguing, and make them keep coming back for more. Be yourself. Online dating is pretty much the same as dating face-to-face. Don’t adapt a different persona – people would still know somehow that you’re faking it.
Besides, it’s easier to be just your pleasant true self. Groom yourself as you would on an actual date. Make it a group date, or bring along a friend if it makes you feel safer. Create a look that expresses your personality and one that you can manage and live with.
A simple, flattering outfit and being comfortable in your own skin can do the trick. Loosen up. A lot of people still get the flutters on a first date, which is pretty normal. Forget about trying to make everything perfect. Have fun and be yourself. A first date often indicates whether there’s chemistry and compatibility among a couple.
If things turn out well then maybe you can meet again at a later time and place. Be truthful. Tell him how you liked the flowers he sent or the nice little seaside restaurant she chose. Dates like to know that they’re appreciated. But, don’t say “see you next time” when you’ve decided that it’s the one and only date that you’ll have.
Be honest at the very least and let the other person know if he or she should expect to hear from you soon. Always remember: Be smart with your decisions. Make new friends, hook up with someone. The dating world is a fun place to meet new and interesting people.
