 Everyone has a worst nightmare. For some, its bathing suit season, for others, its knowing that their birth certificate can never be legally destroyed, and for the rest, it’s meeting THE FORMER BOYFRIEND and making a total fool of themselves. For those who can relate, I believe that each and every one of us has that ONE former boyfriend. We may have other ex boyfriends, but this ONE former boyfriend totally belongs to the higher category of ex- boyfriends. You may move one, fall in love, get married and have kids, but this person’s memory still resides in the back of your sub-conscious. This person has become an integral part of who you are.

That is why meeting THE FORMER BOYFRIEND can be a nerve-wracking experience. You can’t help but be totally self- conscious about everything and completely lost your bearing on the process. So, if you want to keep that cool composure, here are some of the tips that can help you survive that nail- biting reunion. In meeting THE FORMER BOYFRIEND, keep these tips in mind.
- If you ran into him by accident, be yourself. It’s okay to let him see your “surprise look”. Just smile, give your pleasantries, then leave.
- If you know that you will be seeing him, then be sure that you look presentable.
Wear clothes that compliment you figure. Don’t wear something that will make your former boyfriend question your day job. - Relax. Breath. This can help you calm down if you are nervous, excited or both.
- Greet him with a friendly hug (if your guts can take it), this shows that you are not that affected with his presence anymore. This can calm both of you and eradicate that uncomfortable tension.
- If it’s your first meeting and you have no intentions of winning your ex back, I suggest that you should meet in a very casual place, like a coffee shop. Meeting in a place conducive for romance, might make both of you awkward.
- Talk about the good things. If you went to the same college together, then you can talk about your college days, or you can ask about his work, best friend or family.
- It’s alright to talk about certain scenarios about your history, granting that both of you are entirely over with each other. Just be sure that you bring- up the pleasant and amusing part of your past.
- Never talk about how you broke- up or bring up his past mistakes, this is the worst thing that you can do.
- Never flirt with other guys to make him jealous. This will only make him feel thankful that he is not with you anymore.
- Don’t over think. Be natural. Be candid. Try to have a great time.
If you think that you are not over your former boyfriend and doing the above mentioned tips is unimaginable for you, then don’t do it. For instance, if you are in one occasion, you can just say “Hi!” then excuse yourself. Don’t force yourself in to doing things that you are not ready. It can only hurt you more. On the other hand, if both of you are completely done and over with each other, then friendship can be something to consider, but if you are committed and if you think that your present partner would mind, then forget it. No matter how good it feels to be with your former boyfriend, it’s not worth messing your present with your past.
